Since it was founded nearly 90 years ago, Nationwide has gone from a small auto insurer for farmers to one of the largest insurance and financial services companies in the world. Through it all, one thing has stayed constant: a focus on serving customers, whom it considers members of the Nationwide family. Today that members-first policy is supported by Yammer’s social networking technology, including a SharePoint integration the company has dubbed Spot – as in, the spot to get everything done.
One of the first adopters of Yammer, Nationwide’s network got its start in 2008, when Yammer won the TechCrunch50 Conference. Today nearly all its 36,000 employees are on Yammer, thanks to an easy-to use, intuitive interface and how the network supports Nationwide’s business objectives, especially its commitment to customer satisfaction. The flagship of Nationwide’s collaboration platforms is Spot, a homegrown Yammer and SharePoint integration that’s as powerful as it is popular. Nationwide already depended on SharePoint, the leader in the document-collaboration space, but also wanted a social layer that would make employees more collaborative and engaged. The solution was to add Yammer. As a result, employee connections are faster and deeper, and staff can find experts and information more easily – making Nationwide more agile than ever before.
